Uncle Makai's Kona Prawns with His Special Sauce

 

Uncle Makai has a lot of buddies that hang out with him at the beach park or at his home. So, his recipe for grilled prawns is bigger than you might need. Cut the recipe to suit your requirements.

 

Grilled Prawn Ingredients:

3 dozen white Hawaiian Prawns) or prawns from your local market (shelled or if you are adventurous, in the shell with heads

1 ½ Tablespoons olive oil

½ Tablespoon Hawaiian Sea Minerals

½ Tablespoon black pepper

 

Uncle Makai’s Special Kona Prawn Sauce Ingredients:

1 ½ Cup olive oil

1 Tablespoon Hawaiian Sea Minerals

3 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar

½ Cup grilled pineapple (diced 1 Szechuan Whole Dried Chili (reconstitute with Apple Cider Vinegar then diced fine)

3 garlic cloves (diced)

1 Grilled poblano chili (peeled, deseeded and chopped)

1 Tablespoon red pepper flakes

¼ Teaspoon black pepper

 

Directions:

Place all sauce ingredients in a bowl and let sit for a while. 1 to 2 hours is good.

 

Heat grill to high and let it be for 30 minutes.

Toss prawns in a large bowl with olive oil, Hawaiian Sea Minerals and black pepper.

Throw prawns on grill 2 to 3 minutes on each side but don’t overcook

Take the prawns off the grill and use Uncle Makai’s sauce for dipping or smother the shrimp with his sauce.

Eat right away!
